Round cuts are an all-time classic when it comes to engagement rings, and Emerald cuts are fast becoming a new classic with celebrities like Eva Longoria and Heidi Klum, but there are still some people out there who think it is okay to be a square.
There are a variety of cuts that can retain a square shape but still have a unique look, Asscher and Princess, for instance, both a have a different number of facets, thereby creating a different level of light reflection.
Ashlee Simpson transformed herself from the clean cut blonde from the television series 7th Heaven to an edgy brunette looking to carve out a section for herself in the rock music genre, and by 2008 the little girl who could easily sport a classic Round cut diamond ring was gone. Instead, when Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy proposed, he presented the all-grown-up Simpson with a trendier Asscher cut instead. The 4 carat ring is surrounded by a micro pave’ halo of diamonds and much like her husband, the resulting ring fits her transformation completely.
The Couture 0404 from Verragio, on the other hand, is a completely different style that puts Princess cut diamonds into a three stone design. This engagement ring features a larger Princess cut center diamond, flanked by two smaller square, Princess diamonds, and set onto a band adorned with Round cut diamonds along the length. The combination of styles is the perfect example of how to use square cut diamonds to transform a traditional setting.
If the diamond is big enough though, there is no need for any other adornment, as Khloe Kardashian proved when she married LA Laker star, Lamar Odom. The couple’s rushed engagement and wedding almost resulted in a walk down the aisle without an engagement ring, not exactly ideal for a Kardashian lady. However, Odom was able to get the 9 carat, Radiant cut, complete with pave’s set diamonds on the band, onto Kardashian’s ring finger on time.
For an interesting solitaire square style, the Paradiso 3062P combines enough interesting detail to offer a fresh take on a solitaire engagement ring. The engagement ring from Verragio accommodates a square cut center set using the exclusive Lumino setting, which allows more of the diamond to show, and has the scrolling detail inside the band for which the Paradiso collection is known for, and proves that sometimes things don’t need to be so well rounded.
