There was certainly an element of déjà vu when Marie Osmond walked down the aisle in a surprise wedding ceremony this week, while wearing the same dress she was married in in 1982.
“I can’t breathe, but I’m in it,” The singer told Entertainment Tonight.
However it wasn’t just the dress that was getting a second go-around, but the groom as well. Now, 28 years after they originally exchanged wedding rings, Osmond and her first Husband Stephen Craig are giving it one more try.
“Everything has been perfect and we just both can’t believe it,” Osmond told E.T. “We’re so happy, and you know how you just know when something’s right”
But while the wedding was planned, the choice of dress wasn’t, the entertainer shared on Wednesday.
“I had a dress all designed and when it showed up it was not right. I was so sad, I was actually kind of in tears,” Osmond said. “I was cleaning out my garage and all of a sudden this box showed up in this pile of stuff, and it was this dress and it was five days ago. I’m not kidding. Isn’t that crazy?”
The wedding comes after a devastating year; in February of 2010 Osmond’s 18-year-old son Michael, commit suicide by jumping from the eighth floor of his apartment building after battling years of depression. She even chose May 4th for her wedding day in honor of Michael and her mother, both of whose birthday falls on the fourth.
“[Stephen] has been there for me and he’s just my best friend, you know, and loves my kids,” Osmond said.
