British rocker Noel Gallagher has reportedly proposed to his long-time girlfriend with a source claiming the engagement has been kept quiet for a few months now.
Gallagher first met girlfriend Sara Macdonald at a nightclub in Ibiza, eleven years ago, shortly before his divorce from his first wife Meg Mathews, whom he married in a Las Vegas ceremony in 1997. The couple has been together ever since, with Gallagher chronicling that first meeting in the song, “Waiting for Rapture” which he described as “about someone very special I met and have spent the last eight years with.”
Gallagher is well known for both his role as singer/songwriter for the band Oasis, as well as his publically contentious relationship with brother and band mate, Liam Gallagher, who’s fighting finally resulted in Gallagher leaving the band in 2009 after yet another blow-up with Liam.
Gallagher and the rest of Oasis skyrocketed to international success in the mid 1990’s with their second album, What’s the Story Morning Glory, with songs like “Wonderwall,”” Don’t Look Back in Anger,” and “Champagne Supernova.”
Sometime in the midst of his success, Gallagher bumped into Macdonald during the summer of 2000 while at Space nightclub, and despite the turbulent times that followed, the two have been together ever since.
An un-named source reportedly close to the couple told reporters that despite the fact that Gallagher supposedly spent big bucks on an engagement ring, the couple, notoriously private, is keeping the news under wraps for now.
“Noel secretly asked Sara to marry him on her birthday last October. He’s not one for making a big scene. This is the man who kept his leather jacket on when his lad Donovan was born,” The Sun quoted a source as saying. “They have been living like they are married for years anyway, but now they have a family together Noel thought it was the right time to do the romantic thing.”
