Despite losing his first wife Linda to cancer, and a epically disastrous divorce with his second wife Heather, it seems that Paul McCartney is, once again, giving love another try, as he has confirmed his engagement to his longtime girlfriend, Nancy Shevell.
The former Beatle first met Shevell, and American business woman, during the summer of 2007 in the Hamptons, New York just before his divorce from Heather Mills was finalized.
McCartney married Mills, a former model and anti-landmine campaigner, in 2002 and had a daughter, Beatrice, in 2003, but by the time the marriage had ended in May 2006, things had turned ugly.
Mills became the target of McCartney’s fans after threatening to release private tapes of McCartney in therapy talking about his late wife Linda, as well as drugs and alcohol.
Their divorce was final just after McCartney began dating Shevell, whom friends and family members believe to be perfect for the musician. Shevell, the vice president of a family-owned transportation conglomerate, even gets along well with McCartney’s five children from his previous marriages, including fashion designer Stella McCartney, who is said to be thrilled by the news.
“They have the right chemistry. They’re both cool, chilled out and optimistic,” a source close to Shevell told PEOPLE. “Ring and all, very exciting.”
No news on the engagement ring yet, but despite their 17-year age difference, the couple has been described as the perfect pair, and recently attended the Met Gala in New York city looking as happy as ever.
