The much talk about and long awaited wedding of LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian caught guests by surprise this past week when friends and family showed up to what they thought was just a party, and ended up being their wedding.
The couple planned the small ceremony at a private residence in California, telling guests that they were attending their engagement celebration, only to pull a switch on them; a trick often used by celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony in 2005.
Since both the bride and the groom had been married before, the couple opted to keep things simple this time around for the seaside ceremony. The garden was decorated with rose petals and pillows that had phrases like “My whole heart for my whole life.”
Cibrian himself address the wedding plans in his speech to guests, as well as their past marriages.
“We’ve both had much larger weddings before,” Cibrian said. “About 100-150 people both, but we just wanted our closest of friends and family here with us tonight.”
Rimes wore a custom Reem Acra gown featuring all-over pearls in a range of sizes and white paillettes on nude silk chiffon, according to People, who spoke to the bride about her choice of dress.
““When I opened it, I started crying. The dress was stunning,” she told People. “I was definitely a little bit of a sexier bride, but it was still beautiful and sweet.”
Cibrian also opted for a classic but casual look in black trousers; a white tuxedo jacket and a tuxedo shirt open at the collar.
The couple had a rocky start, as they were both married at the time they became involved, but have since done their best to make amends. Cibrian’s ex-wife, Brandi Glanville, with whom he has two children, even publically wished the couple well over the weekend.
“I’m very happy that my children will have consistency in their lives while on their father’s time” Glanville wrote on twitter.
Rimes often also takes to her Twitter to express her feeling, and her wedding was no different.
“Eddie and I are overwhelmed by the amount of lovely well wishes. We are blessed and … I’m Mrs. Cibrian,” Rimes wrote. “So wonderful to wake up as husband and wife. Love to all of you.”
