Always a cool cucumber of an actress, Kate Hudson casually announced her engagement while on the Today Show to promote her upcoming movie, fittingly titled, Something Borrowed.
In January of 2011, Hudson confirmed the rumors that she was pregnant with her second child, and the first with boyfriend Matthew Bellamy. So it was, with her hand resting on her baby bump, that host Matt Lauer noticed her enormous diamond ring.
“Could you place your hand in my hand for a second please? I just want to see something,” Lauer asked.
Hudson laughed as he asked if this new, and confirmed that although Bellamy proposed about a week before, they had not announced it yet, but shared that the proposal had been “very sweet and very romantic.”
The proposal came on the heels of another interview Hudson recently gave explaining that she didn’t feel the need to rush to the altar or put more pressure on their relationship.
“I already have one child and have had one divorce so it is not necessarily the golden ticket. I just want to be happy,” she had said before.
Hudson was previously married to The Black Crows front man, Chris Robinson, and the two have a son, Ryder, together. The couple married in Aspen, Colorado in 2000, but divorced in October of 2007.
The Actress, who is the daughter and spitting image of Goldie Hawn, met Bellamy at the Coachella music festival a year ago in 2010, and she recently talked to InStyle Magazine about their relationship.
“I never thought this would be the person I would end up with, but I don’t think you ever really know,” Hudson shared. “I love that Matthew knows how to express himself. He shows his love. He communicates.”
The couple has yet to share any wedding plans, but for now Hudson has been making the promotion rounds for her new movie wearing what appears to be an Emerald cut diamond engagement ring.
