Actor Michael Vartan and his longtime girlfriend, Lauren Skaar exchanged wedding rings ast week, two years after a fortuitous first meeting at the grocery store.
“We met at a grocery store in L.A.,” Skaar told People. “Michael approached me after some well calculated ‘stalking,’ as I like to call it. We didn’t date right away. I wouldn’t give him my number but did take his e-mail address, and we didn’t see each other until a few months after our first meeting. That was almost two years ago.”
Vartan, who currently costars on the show “Hawthorne,” is perhaps best known for his role the television show, “Alias,” and the movie “Never Been Kissed,” proposed to Skaar last March.
“She’s my best friend in the world and that’s why I asked her to marry me,” he told HollywoodLife.com in April of 2010. “I have more fun with her than with anyone I’ve ever met. I just woke up one day and could not imagine living without her.”
The couple tied the knot under a Gazebo at Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach, California, the same city the two met in the parking lot of a Whole Foods, flanked by Cherry Blossom tress overlooking the ocean.
The ceremony, themed “Evening Spring” was attended by about 150 guests, including actor and former “Alias” Costar, Victor Garber, who served as Groomsman. The bride wore a Vera Wang that had been altered from a one shoulder design into a strapless design, while the groom wore a Giorgio Armani tuxedo.
Although Vartan had to return to the Hawthorne set only days after their big day, without a honeymoon, the couple couldn’t seem happier about spending the rest of their lives together.
“Our plans for the future are to live a happy, simple life, have kids, lots of dogs and go with the flow,” Vartan told People about what the future holds. “I married my best friend; [it] shouldn’t be too hard.”
