It seems that Mike Myers, famous for his portrayal of Austin Powers, really is an international man of mystery. The comedian and actor exchanged wedding rings with his longtime girlfriend, Kelly Tisdale, it was announced today, but the wedding took place five months ago.
The couple avoided the publicity that normally surrounds most celebrity weddings simply by not releasing a statement; however the 47 year old actor’s spokesperson confirmed today that the couple tied the knot in a ceremony in New York City last year.
“I can confirm that last fall, Mike Myers and Kelly Tisdale were married in a private ceremony and celebrated with family and friends,” his rep told E! News.
The pair began dating in 2006, shortly after Myers split from his wife Robin Ruzin, and was discovered after the two were photographed on the beach in Hawaii. Tisdale lives with Myers in New York City, and previously dated the musician Moby with whom she wrote a cookbook and opened the ‘Teany Vegetarian Café’ on Manhattan’s Lower East Side in 2005.
Myers began his career in New York as well, as a cast member on Saturday Night Live, where he became known for his skits with fellow cast member Dana Carvey, like Wayne’s World, which later became a major motion picture, and Coffee Talk, which is said to be based off his ex-mother-in-law.
He later skyrocketed to success in movies like Wayne’s World, Austin Powers, and most recently as the voice of the cartoon ogre, Shrek. And for fans of the Powers trilogy, rumor has it the actor will be back for a fourth installment, due out in 2013.
