There have been some pretty impressive, record-breaking diamond creations over the past year like iPhones and bras, perfect to display exactly how much wealth is in a purse, but how about a diamond purse to show how much you have in that purse?
That is what the House of Mouawad had in mind when they created the world’s most expensive purse, which was unveiled at the Doha Jewelry and Watches Exhibition this week. The Guinness Book of world records was on hand to certify the diamond purse as the world’s most expensive, reportedly worth $3.8 million.
“This breathtaking creation is a unique masterpiece,” Fred Mouawad told reporters. “Not only is it one of a kind but it is also the world’s most valuable, intensifying its power to enchant those who have the privilege of wearing it.”
Fred along with Pascal Mouawad, the Guardians of the House of Mouawad, were on hand to display the purse, which consists of 18K gold and 4,517 diamonds; 105 yellow diamonds, 56 pink diamonds, and 4,356 colorless diamonds to be exact.
The purse, which took 10 artisans over 8,800 hours to create, was named ‘The 1001 Nights Diamond Purse’ after its inspiration, One Thousand and One Nights, explained Pascal.
“Just as the tales of Scheherazade have captivated readers with their intricately woven plots of uninhibited passion and daring, ‘The Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse’ is designed to mesmerize with its lavish attention to detail and elaborate workmanship incorporating thousands of diamonds,” said Pascal.
The record breaking creation was designed by Robert Mouawad for The House of Mouawad, which was founded in 1890, and will be on display until Saturday, after which it will be taken to Saudi Arabia and The UAE.
