Former Full House childhood star and actress Jodie Sweetin has announced that she is engaged, for the third time. At age 29, Sweetin has announced that she is engaged to her partner, actor and musical composer, Morty Coyle.
Coyle, who has a 5 month old daughter, Beatrix, with Sweetin, proposed at the Kibitz Room in Los Angeles yesterday during her 29th birthday party.
Sweetin shared with PEOPLE how thrilled she was by a proposal that turned out to be a surprise only to her.
“My friend decorated the whole place with little diamonds on the table and other touches,” she told the publication. “I was glad that everybody was there. People videotaped it, it was great.”
Her new engagement ring, which is right in line with the latest trends, is a 2.5 carat, oval sapphire surrounded by 18 diamonds in a snowflake-like design.
Sweetin, who began drinking at the age of 14 during the wedding of former costar Candace Cameron’s wedding, formerly battled an addiction to meth and coke that led to two separate stays in rehab, the first in 2004.
The actress however, has been drug free for the past two years and has begun acting again in independent movie like Port City.
But don’t expect to hear any wedding details anytime soon; the couple explained that they aren’t exactly rushing into anything just yet.
“We are in no hurry as far as dates or anything like that,” Sweetin told PEOPLE, and Coyle added that gay marriage rights factor into their decision to wait.
“We want to wait until there’s equality for everybody to get married,” he said, but also explained that he still wanted her to feel like a bride. “Just because we weren’t married doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve a ring.”
