Lauren Bush and David Lauren may not too well-known outside their New York City social circle, but their resulting union is certainly worth a mention.
The granddaughter of former President George Bush/niece of President George W. Bush and the son of the fashion designer and icon, Ralph Lauren has become engaged after six years.
The couple, who first met at the Vogue Magazine’s annual Costume Institute gala at the Metropolitan Museum of art in 2004, brought it back to where it all began to get engaged. Lauren reportedly took his longtime girlfriend to see an exhibit at the Met on Friday, only to drop to one knee, a source told the New York Post, and had the engagement ring in hand.
Following the surprise proposal, the happy couple was spotted leaving the museum arm and arm, getting into a horse drawn carriage. And although they have yet to set a wedding date, the wedding is already being heralded as the most anticipated wedding since Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their plans to exchange wedding rings this past November.
Their union will bring together two American Dynasties; one a major name in fashion and the other in politics. Lauren, 39, works for the family business as the executive vice president in charge of worldwide branding, communications and marketing at Polo, and is also credited with launching the company’s digital operations ten years ago.
Bush, a former model, started the FEED Projects in conjunction with the United Nation, in 2007, which has helped to feed millions of children through the sale of burlap bags, and has also recently started her own fashion line.
And the couple, as pointed out by The New York Post, has the potential to be the most iconic pair in the city, should Lauren change her name, making her Lauren Lauren.
