Nick Lachey and long-time girlfriend, Vanessa Minnillo have recently announced their engagement after dating for four years. Lachey, who once was the lead singer of the boy band 98 Degrees, but is now most well-known as Jessica Simpson’s ex-husband, presented the “True Beauty” host with an engagement ring Thursday, in a very traditional way.
“I popped the question on bended knee,” Lachey tweeted Thursday. “I do a lot of squats so my knees are very strong.”
Minnillo, who is currently in Mexico with Lachey today for an early 30th birthday celebration, has already been photographed sporting a large Asscher cut three stone engagement ring with flanking baguettes.
The pair originally got together in 2006, shortly after Lachey’s divorce, and while the two briefly separated in 2009, they have been going strong since their reconciliation. No word on when the two will exchange wedding rings, but released a joint statement expressing their happiness and thanking their fans for their support.
However, Lachey and Minnillo might not be the only pair announcing an engagement soon, E! News broke the news yesterday that controversial couple singer LeAnn Rimes and actor Eddie Cibrian will be making things official too.
The couple, who met while filming a Lifetime television movie, posted a picture of a stunned looking Rimes standing before Cibrian on bended knee on Twitter recently. But Cibrian later clarified that the photo was just a joke and that they had opted for ‘trick’ rather than ‘treat’ this Halloween.
Cibrian and Rimes have not been media favorites since they became a couple, since both parties were married when they got together. In fact the engagement news comes on the heels of Rimes’ latest scandal when “Shape” magazine, which put her on the cover of their September issue, apologized to enraged fans who branded Rimes a ‘husband stealer.’
For their part, the couple is reportedly none too happy that their engagement was made public without their consent and furthered speculation when Rimes canceled a public appearance on the 4th, claiming she had the flu.
Consequently, there have been no engagement ring spotting with this couple, but the two have been known to play house; attending Cambrian’s son’s soccer games and Rimes tweeting about making pancakes for the family. Despite the couple’s attempts to be forgiven but not forgotten, they seem to remain out of favor with the public, so hopefully this engagement announcement will garner a little good will.
